Meet Your Host
Phillip grew up in Shelby, North Carolina, where hunting and fishing with family and friends sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors. After moving to Boone to attend Appalachian State University, he quickly immersed himself in fly fishing, eventually serving as President of the App State Fly Fishing Club in 2020. While working at Watauga Medical Center, Phillip guided on weekends but found himself constantly drawn back to the river. In 2024, he turned that passion into a full-time career with The Speckled Trout Outfitters. Today, he loves introducing new anglers to the sport and building lasting relationships through meaningful days on the water.
