Women's Backpack

Starting at Moses Cone Manor and finishing at the Beacon Heights Parking Lot, this three-day, two-night backpack excursion will hike along 21 miles of the Mountains to Sea Trail, including 14 miles of the Tanawha Trail. This route covers some of the most beloved hikes in the High Country - Trout Lake, Boone Fork Trail, Holloway Mountain, Storyteller Rock, and the Viaduct, just to name a few.

This hike is best suited for hikers with an intermediate level of fitness, as we will be covering up to 8 miles in one day with around 30 pounds on our backs. Beginner backpackers are welcome, as we will teach gear choice & packing, water filtration, navigation, safety, and fire skills.

Max group size is 6.

Becca will guide this trip, and you can read more about her here. If you have questions, you can email her at becca@thespeckledtrout.com.

Naturalist Hike

Traveling up towards the Moses Cone fire tower, we enter a field filled with late summer wildflowers surrounded by an almost 360* view of the surrounding Blue Ridge. This workshop and hike is a great opportunity to learn more about and how to identify native wildflowers, trees, and birds of both the forest and fields of Western North Carolina. This hike will be plant and botany-centric, but other critters will be discussed!

Forest Bathing

Experience the forest through meditation and mindfulness practices to relax and restore your energy. Spending time in the woods improves both our mental and physical health, even when we’re not exercising.

This guided practice is not about identifying plants nor about a hike to get the heart rate up. We’ll be walking a mile or less during the whole three hours.
