“Women in the Outdoors” Pint Night
The weather is warming, the flowers are blooming - come celebrate with us!
On April 3rd, join us for an evening of visiting with new & old friends from 6 - 8 pm in the shop. This is a casual and open event for those who want to connect with women in the outdoors and learn about upcoming Speckled Trout events, like our Women’s Beginner Backpack trip August 2025. Beer & wine are a special $4 per drink on Thursdays, and we also have non-alcoholic beverages available. All ages, abilities, and outdoor activities are welcome.
Business After Hours with Boone Chamber of Commerce
Join us after hours at the shop for an evening of community, bites and sips, and learn about all we’ve got going on this Spring at the Outfitters.
Business After Hours is a Free Member Event for Boone Chamber Members! Guests are welcome.

Moonlight Hike
Moonlight Hike
$30
Explore the moonlit woods as we embark on a hike around Price Lake using only the light of the moon to illuminate our path. We will witness how our eyes adjust to low light and our senses become heightened. During the hike, the group will stop several times to learn about the moon, how to use nature to guide our way, and the history of Julian Price.
This trip is a good fit for people who want an adventure and are able to walk two miles on moderately uneven ground and are up to the challenge of walking in the dark. Please wear comfortable athletic shoes and bring a bottle of water, rain jacket, and a flashlight (just in case!).
TroutFest

Trail Days
Take a trip to Damascus, and visit us at Trail Days, a festival celebrating “the friendliest town on the Appalachian Trail” with all the best outdoor gear vendors, local music, giveaways galore, and delicious food. You’ll find The Speckled Trout Outfitters stationed on Laurel Avenue across from The Appalachian Heritage Distillery & Brewery.

Spend your evenings unwinding by the pool or in the private villa, drink in hand, for a great mix of adventure and rest.

Storyteller Rock Day Hike (Free)
Get to know our guides and explore Grandfather Mountain at our free community hike. We’ll meet at the Boone Fork Parking Lot on the Blue Ridge Parkway before embarking. Learn the history of the viaduct, the culture of Grandfather, and tips and tricks for the backcountry.

Women's Beginner Backpack
Disconnect from the busyness of daily life and settle into the presence, peace and quiet of nature on a weekend trip that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired. You will learn all you need to know - from water filtration to what not to wipe with- and be provided with all necessary gear to safely, successfully, and joyfully backpack.
Each day will involve a 3-5 mile hike, allowing plenty of time for breaks, learning, and leisurely time at camp to take in our natural environment. Gear and food are included - and don’t worry, this is not your average trail food of peanut butter on tortillas and chicken-flavored ramen. Your guide, Becca, has been complimented on her trail kitchen skills, and you will leave this weekend asking for recipes. Our max group size is 6.
Becca is passionate about teaching women to embrace the outdoors and learn skills to empower them in a backcountry setting. She is trained as a Forest Therapy Guide, an amateur naturalist, and a friction fire builder. You can read more about her here. Kitchen Share at F.A.R.M. Cafe
Join The Speckled Trout team at F.A.R.M. Cafe in Boone, a locally-loved non-profit restaurant whose mission is to “Feed All Regardless of Means.” We’ll be sharing the kitchen, so while you’re enjoying Speckled Trout fare for lunch at F.A.R.M., you’ll be supporting an amazing local mission.
Boone greenway Clean-up
Join The Speckled Trout Outfitters and Watauga Riverkeeper for a clean-up along the Boone Greenway. We’ll be picking up trash and debris left behind by Hurricane Helene. Please wear pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks. All clean-up materials are provided.
North Toe river Clean-up

Join us for 6 days and 7 nights in the quiet fishing town of Punta Allen, Mexico. Punta Allen sits along the southernmost part of Mexico’s east coast in the infamous ascension bay. Anglers will have the opportunity to target permit, bonefish and tarpon. Spend your evenings with a margarita in hand, enjoying excellent local food and sharing camaraderie in the day of fishing.

Brinkwaters in Damascus will be our base camp for fishing, hiking, and biking!
