Where did we get our name?

Did you know that The Speckled Trout Outfitters (and Restaurant and Bottleshop!) were named after a unique strain of brook trout called Southern Appalachian brook trout? These native brook trout have long been referred to as “specks,” “speckled trout,” or “brookies” and are regarded as one of North America’s most beautiful native fish species. What better specimen to represent our love of community and the outdoors!?
